ikr? I was previously happy with “girlfriend” as a descriptor but this is so much better

I don’t know what’s funnier to me, that there’s only one bed in the apartment (who knows, maybe we sleep in it in shifts) or that this whole problem could have been avoided if he’d bothered to learn her name. like, ever. in the whole year we’ve been renting from him.

plus at least 2/3rds of his tenants this year are gay, and it is so obviously not what he was hoping for

Joe is the boss; but Ed or Bill will say,

On your side, Joe?” “Yes,” says the boss. “Okay.”

The clean strike of the pike into the pole — “That’s it!”
“Ground your pikes!”

The grounded pikes about the rising black pole, beautiful.
“Ed, you’d better get under here with me!” “I’m
Under!”
“That’s it!”
“Ground your pikes!”

Joe says, “Now, boys, don’t heave
Too hard — we’ve got her — but you, Ed, you and Mike,
You’ll have to hold her from underneath while Bill
Shifts his pike — she wants to fall downhill;
We’ve got her all right, but we’ve got her on a slight
Slant.”

The respect for the pole: it is forty feet high, and weighs
Two thousand pounds.

In the front of each man’s mind: “She’s going to go
Exactly where we want her to go: this pole

This was in the deepening dusk of a July night.
They were putting in the poles: bringing the electric light.

ugh it is so frustrating that we’re so excited about that. especially because it feels like a lot of authors are putting in gay side characters, and their sexual orientation never comes except as an aside and it sucks. + no I haven’t but I should!

ikr :c if you don’t specifically out things starring queer people (esp women) then you’ll never come across them except as incidental background characters or w/e

and i highly recommend it! the first one was $0.99 on amazon a couple weeks ago, hopefully it’s still that cheap.

yes yes. it’s especially frustrating to me because you so often see people saying “~if only we could have queer representation where there aren’t any subplots related to their lgbtqness and they just are.” and I’d absolutely love to see more stories about lgbtq people who have plots other than HMM AM I GAY WOW COMING OUT WHOO EXPERIENCING HOMOPHOBIA but in practice, making a gay background character who then just sits there doesn’t do much but tell me the author doesn’t… totally… hate gay people. I mean gosh, give them adventures and a hot date.

I’m kind of horrified that no one on any of the blogs I follow is talking about the Harper Lee law suit? I mean, I know legal drama with writers is not exactly an uncommon occurrence, but this case in particular seems like a big deal to me and I can’t find anyone else who seems to agree

new york emt here: iirc, unless it’s an obvious death (aka the body is in a condition that is incompatible with life: decomposition, decapitation, etc) paramedics have to get an EKG in order to declare

I mean I’ve been out of the field for a while I might be mistaken, but lol why can’t people just go with the usual conspiracy theory and say they brought him back / didn’t tell the avengers he actually survived?
